Carla Andorf graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in community health education and began her career with the Family Health Bureau at the Iowa Department of Public Health. She later took a position with Mid-Iowa Community Action. Through her work at MICA she saw many children in need of dental care but lacking access to dental services. She began her search for resources and innovative programs to help meet the dental needs of children. Since then, MICA has increased the amount of oral health services provided at its maternal and child health clinics, started a school sealant program, and implemented several other oral health projects.
