Matt McGarvey, MPA, Wellmark Foundation
Matt McGarvey joined The Wellmark Foundation in June 2003 as a grants manager, and was subsequently promoted to director in March 2006. He is a graduate of Central College in Pella, Iowa, and received his master's degree in public administration from Drake University in Des Moines. He also recently completed a certificate in public health from the University of Iowa College of Public Health. Prior to entr into the foundation field, he worked in health philanthropy for nearly 10 years as a grant director for a large hospital within Catholic Health Initiatives. He has been a very visible leader in Iowa and South Dakota (geographic focus of Wellmark Foundation), providing technical assistance to organizations seeking grants, collaborating with the external grant review committee, and representing Wellmark Foundation on various statewide organizations. He is excited to continue to work with communities in positioning their health initiatives in ways to maximize the Foundation's philanthropy.
