Laura Sands, Health Education Specialist, Iowa Department of Public Health
Laura Sands has worked in the fields of nutrition and public health for over 25 years. She earned her bachelor's degree in political science, emphasis in African studies, from Northwestern University and her master's degree in human nutrition from Columbia University. She demonstrates a passion for public health and community education. She is a skilled facilitator and natural leader. Ms. Sands employs a deep understanding of community coalition building and competently walks beside a community to build upon its leadership potential to accomplish its objectives. She has significant experience writing and managing grant programs and is a dedicated community volunteer. Ms. Sands is a graduate of and coach for the Transformational Leadership Program.
