Sheila Temple, Oral Health Program Lead Coordinator, Washington and Henry Counties
Sheila Temple received her associate degree in dental hygiene in 1984 from Hawkeye Institute of Technology and University of Northern Iowa. She has worked extensively with community partners as the lead coordinator for all oral health programs in Washington and Henry counties for the last nine years along with practicing clinical dental hygiene for over 13 years. She has been recognized with a Governor's Volunteer of the Year Award for her work with programs in her local community. She has worked as an exception to policy dental hygienist and has developed many innovative new exceptions approved by the Iowa Department of Human Services. She has served as the president of the Iowa Dental Hygienists' Association (IDHA), and she also received the IDHA Dental Hygienist of the Year Award for her part in helping pass the public health supervision rule change to improve dental access to care for underserved populations in Iowa.
